Coronavirus continues to affect the world, it spreads rapidly in many countries, and the death toll is still rising. More than 3 million reported cases have been confirmed in 185 countries. More than 240,000 people were killed.
Baltimore, MD (Merxwire) - Merxwire continues to provide coronavirus tracking reports for readers. In just one week, the confirmed cases of coronavirus in the world have risen from about 2.8 million to more than 3 million, and the number of deaths has risen from about 200,000 to more than 240,000. The United States is still a worst-hit country. (Data from Johns Hopkins University)
There are currently the most confirmed cases in the United States, with more than 1 million confirmed cases. The death toll exceeds 66,000, making it the country with the highest number of deaths in the world. New York State is particularly affected, with 18,000 people killed in New York City alone. Over 90% of the US population was under mandatory lockdown orders, but starting Friday, Georgia, Texas, Maine and other states relaxed their stay-at-home restrictions and allow some businesses to reopen.
France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are the European countries most affected by the virus, with at least 20,000 deaths in each country. However, all four countries seem to have passed the virus peak, and the number of cases and deaths are declining. The death tolls in Germany and Belgium are also relatively high and are now declining. Although Belgium has a much smaller population than Germany, the average death toll is higher.
Although some regions have suffered from confirmed cases and deaths due to strict blockade restrictions, others are on the rise. For example: Brazil, Russia, Peru and Mexico's latest daily death toll is twice that of 6 to 10 days ago. Brazil has a large number of daily deaths, but the data shows that the situation in Russia, Mexico and Peru is similar.
On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that coronavirus is a global pandemic, indicating that human infections have occurred in different places, and the infection is easy. Until now, more than 3 million people are known to be infected worldwide. Although the infection situation in many countries has slowed down, the actual number may be more than the data. Because many people with mild symptoms have not been tested and calculated, so humans must continue fighting.
