LeBron James has returned to on-court activity, and he and the Los Angeles Lakers are hopeful the superstar can return for the final three to four games of the regular season, ESPN and The Athletic reported Thursday.
Officially, the Lakers say there is no timeline for James' return.
The fourth-to-last game of the Lakers' regular season is at Utah on April 4. The Lakers' next contest is in Los Angeles on April 5, an "away" game against the Clippers, who share the same arena. The Lakers will host the Phoenix Suns on April 7 before their season ends at home versus the Jazz on April 9.
The Lakers sit at 36-37, precariously holding the 10th - and final - seed in the Western Conference, good for a berth in the play-in tournament. The Jazz are a half-game behind the Lakers.
Lakers coach Darvin Ham said Monday he expected James "back at some point" before the season is over.
James has been sidelined since Feb. 26 with an injured tendon in his right foot. He has missed the team's last 12 games.
The 19-time All-Star is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 47 games this season.
